It’s a myth that all types of sarees suit any body
type. Ever wondered what saree suits your body type? Well, we have all
the answers for you.
Pear Shaped Women – A pear shaped woman is typically
one that has wide hips and thighs and narrow shoulders. The saree styles
best suited for this body type is chiffon, crepe or georgette. These
fabrics make the figure look symmetrical by distracting attention from
the heavy bottom.
Apple Shaped Women – An apple shaped woman’s upper
body is typically larger than her lower body. She’s typically heavy
around the stomach. The saree best suited for this body type is one that
has embellishments and embroidery. This makes the figure look balanced.
Slim Women – If weight is not an issue for you, slim
women should wear fabrics that add volume to the body. These include
heavy silks like Benarsi and kanjeevaram, cotton and organza. Lean and
tall women can easily carry off geometric prints and designs.
Not so slim women – If you’re struggling with your
weight, heavier women should opt for fabrics that shape the body like
chiffon, crepe and net. Avoid fabrics that are bulky like tissue and
brocade. Short and plump women should avoid sarees with wide borders and
big prints.
When buying your next saree, go for something that is flattering for your body type.
